What began as an early fascination with performance gradually became a serious part of my life and introduced me to the world of filmmaking long before I eventually moved behind the camera.
I started acting at a young age, working across television, theatre, feature films, and commercial productions.
Mafkoud
Mafkoud was one of the most important experiences of that period, a feature film that became a three-year journey, beginning during the final years of my film studies.
The production grew alongside my education. What started as a film project became an extended process of learning how a film is actually made: from the first rehearsals and conversations, through production, setbacks, waiting, reshooting, and finally seeing the work come together.
Starring in the film while studying cinema gave me the opportunity to experience filmmaking from inside the process not only as an actor, but as someone increasingly curious about every part of the production.
Those three years taught me much of what I still carry into my work today: how to work with a crew, how to understand a director's vision, how to build a character, how to remain present when things don't go according to plan, and how much patience and persistence filmmaking requires.
The film went on to receive Best Director at a film festival, marking an important moment for a production that had taken years of work to reach the screen.
Looking back, Mafkoud sits at an important point in my journey. It was one of the experiences that gradually shifted my relationship with cinema, from being someone performing inside a film to becoming increasingly interested in the person behind the camera, and eventually in creating films of my own.
